New Zealand Bamboo Society
Annual conference and AGM at Maungakaramea 12th-13th February 2005
Some of us gathered at Tim & Zelka's home on Friday evening, and some of us camped amongst their bamboos. It was heaven. On Saturday they took us, along with a heartening number of local visitors who had seen their items in the local newspaper, for a tour of their property. We admired a huge number of bamboos, some quite unusual. And we walked through their avocado plantings, which produce the most delicious fruit. Tim explained the philosophy behind his cultural methods... which are quite, quite different to those over the fence!
In the evening we enjoyed a meal in Maungakaramea.
Sunday gave us another treat - we drove to Tinopai to visit Stewart Stevenson & Lyn Lang at their home above the sea. They gave us a guided tour of their plantings, which are going to grow into something spectacular. We managed an AGM, a plant auction, and for some of us a swim.
