Working Bee held at The Chinese Garden, Hamilton City Gardens on Saturday 11th October 2008
*** members assembled from as far afield as Tinopai in the north to Wellington in the south. *** welcomed us on behalf of the Hamilton City Gardens, and provided us with lunchroom facility and the help of ** of their staff. They were as delighted to have our help and advice on how to care for bamboo as we were to have their help to remove the incredible pile of debris we produced. The majority of the bamboo grove was ****, which had engulfed plants of **** near the top of the knoll. The effect created by several hours of knowledgeable hands wielding Silky saws and a battery powered sabre saw was nothing short of spectacular. Claire took home enough bamboo to form a screen at her Hamilton home, and Chris took some culms home to Hawkes Bay to make into mucial instruments....
